Churches and monasteries in Ribe
The magnificent complex’s Ribe Cathedral and St. Catharinæ’s Abbey and Monastery are the last remains of all the medieval churches, abbeys, chapels and hospitals of old Ribe.
Had you lived in Ribe during the High Middle Ages, you would have been able to visit ten churches and four abbeys. After the Reformation in 1536, what remained was Ribe Cathedral and also St. Catharinæ’s Church as a parish church, while the Abbey continued to serve as a hospital.
